Our Approach

The Montessori Difference at RKIS

Maria Montessori believed that children learn best when they are free to explore at their own pace in a carefully prepared environment. At RKIS, we bring this philosophy to life.

Sensorial & Practical Life

Children work with specially designed Montessori materials — pink tower, cylinder blocks, colour tablets, pouring and lacing exercises — that develop fine motor skills, concentration, and order.

Child-Led Learning

Each child chooses their own work cycle. Teachers observe and guide rather than lecture. This builds intrinsic motivation, decision-making, and a genuine love for learning.

Trained Montessori Faculty

Our early-years teachers hold recognised Montessori training certifications and attend regular workshops to stay current with the best practices in early childhood education.

Prepared Environment

Classrooms are designed at child height with open shelves, natural light, and defined work areas for practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics, and culture.

Creative Expression

Daily art, music, dance, and storytelling sessions let children express themselves freely. Outdoor play, sand and water play, and nature walks complement indoor learning.

Social & Emotional Growth

Grace and courtesy lessons, group circle time, and collaborative activities teach empathy, sharing, conflict resolution, and respect for others.

FAQ

Common Questions

Q: What is the minimum age for admission to Playgroup?

Children who have completed 2 years of age by 31 March of the admission year are eligible for Playgroup. For Pre-Nursery, the minimum age is 3 years.

Q: Do you follow a pure Montessori method?

We follow a Montessori-inspired approach with certified materials and trained teachers, blended with CBSE early-childhood guidelines. This gives children the best of structured Montessori work cycles and the curriculum requirements for a smooth transition to Class 1.

Q: What is the student-to-teacher ratio?

We maintain a low ratio of approximately 15:1 with a dedicated class teacher and an assistant in every section, ensuring individual attention for every child.

Q: Is Day Boarding available for kindergarten children?

Yes. Our Day Boarding programme extends the school day until 5 PM with supervised activities, homework help, and creative sessions. This is ideal for working parents. Learn more on our Day Boarding page.

Q: How do you handle separation anxiety?

New children are given a gradual settling-in period over the first two weeks. Parents may stay on campus during initial days. Our trained teachers use gentle reassurance and engaging activities to help every child feel safe and happy.

Q: What should my child bring to school?

A labelled water bottle, a change of clothes, and any comfort item (like a small soft toy) for the first few weeks. All Montessori materials and art supplies are provided by the school.

Q: Is transport available for kindergarten children?

Yes. Our school buses cover routes across Sarkaghat, Bari, Ner Chowk, and surrounding areas. A female attendant accompanies the kindergarten bus at all times.

Q: When can I visit the kindergarten?

Campus visits are welcome on all working days between 9 AM and 1 PM. You can also book a guided tour by calling or sending a WhatsApp message.
